The rook

The rook moves in straight lines: along its file, or along its rank. Never diagonally.

It travels as far as it likes, as long as nothing blocks the way. It never jumps over anything: if a piece stands in its path it stops just before — or captures it, if that piece belongs to the opponent.

Your turn

Take the rook all the way up its file, to a8.
